Everybody Likes an Ice Cream Truck - Dr. Norman's Sweet Tooth a Type 2 T1 VW Ice Cream Van
Let’s say it was a very tasty, tempting desire that could not be overcome, and who can blame him! Dr. Norman succumbs to the Ice Cream temptation. No, don’t get me wrong, the good Doctor has not abandoned his “Potato and Carrots” (No Diet) regime, he just could not resist the opportunity to acquire this great VW Van specially prepared as an ice cream truck. The former “Good Times” Ice Cream Shack arrived at the Museum via California and a welcome addition to the Type 2 Exhibits at the back room of the Museum.
As can be seen from the accompanying photos, this van is equipped with all the necessary equipment and accessories to bring happiness to young and old alike as it peddles its product neighborhood by neighborhood, street by street, and kid by kid. From special refrigerated compartments to soda dispensing units it stocks plenty of goodies dispensed through the counter built on the left side of the van, available through a huge side panel opening.
The interiors are otherwise stock, with the addition of a special electric horn that plays over forty different tunes, to attract the attention of potential customers. This rare unit has generated a lot of interest at the Museum, and will probably be exhibited at the upcoming “Flower Power 2” event in Plaza Las Americas Shopping Mall in San Juan, Puerto Rico during the last week of March 2011.
