1963 VW Type 2 Ambulance Bus
One of the Museum's most recent arrivals, June 2009, is a unique VW Type 2 Ambulance unit. This 1963 Bus is in excellent conditions and totally complete in its accessories. The interior is in excellent preserved conditions and includes ambulance fan, half step, ambulance chair, pull-out chair, stretchers, latches and white frosted side pop-out windows.

The exterior of the ambulance is also complete with front red-cross lamp, right hand spot-light, rear mirror attachment, front split-windshield, siren and all early sigla lights, glass and flashing lights.

It also has early ambulance call buttons, pull-down ambulance rear hatch, squirter bag. Upholstery is factory vinyl with leather headliner, as original in all ambulances. The ambulance has the utility 15 diameter bus rims, jail bars all around.

The engine is the 36HP version available to ambulances. Factory speedometer is clear needle speedo and odometer, and an early type gas gauge.

The paint was matched to original colors in the standard red-white combination, with the Red Cross emergency logo prominently painted in all four corners.

This particular unit was purchased from a collector in Colorado. The '63 Ambulance now forms part of the emergency vehicle display at the Volkswagen Museum of Puerto Rico.
